Our History
For 30 years Calvary Temple Assembly of God has served the community of Northeast San Antonio. The church was founded by Rev. James & Dorothy Brothers in February of 1980. Pastor and Mrs. Brothers heeded God's call to leave another position in San Antonio and come out to the "country" and start a new work. 30 Years later we're not in the country anymore. Pastor Brothers is retired now but still attends services regularly and serves in the church.
Rev. Doug & Janet Roberts have served as Senior Pastor since April of 2003. Pastor Doug and Janet have a clear vision and steadfast determination spread the Gospel of Christ and lead Calvary Temple well into the 21st century. In April of 2005 Pastor and Mrs. Roberts were elected by a overwhelming majority to a indefinite term as senior pastor.
We have recently completed construction of the James H. Brothers Family Life Center. This new center already serves as a hub of children's and family ministries. In addition to added space on Sunday Morning the Family Life Center will host youth athletic programs and camps.

To reach out to non-believers and develop them, along with existing believers, into committed followers of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Doug & Janet Roberts
Senior Pastor
Doug and Janet came to Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in January of 2000. In April, 2003, Pastor Doug began serving as our Senior Pastor. Janet is the Director of Special Projects and a church office secretary. Pastor Doug and Janet have been in ministry for the past 20 years serving in the areas of youth and music. They have a daughter and son-in-law, currently serving as Executive Pastors, and a son who leads worship here at Calvary Temple.
Rev. Matthew & Stacey Leighty
Executive Pastor
Matthew is a certified minister with the Assemblies of God and has served in ministry for over 13 years. Pastor Matt is married to the daughter of Pastor Doug and Janet, Stacey. Together Pastor Matt and Stacey have served the body of Calvary Temple as Youth Pastor for 3 years and Children's Pastor for 8 years. Pastor Matt began his ministry as Executive Pastor in March of 2008. Click here to view Pastor Matt's blog.
Rev. Rob and Anna Thoreson
Youth Pastor
Rob and Anna joined the ct|church staff in April of 2010. They served churches in Iowa and Missouri for nine years as volunteer youth leaders and in Illinois and Texas as full-time youth pastors since 2006. Pastor Rob graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO in 2006 with degrees in Youth Ministries and Bible, and is also an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. Pastor Rob and Anna have two beautiful children, Eli and Sarah.
Aaron & Shannon Morgan
Children and Family Pastor
Aaron and Shannon Morgan met at Southwestern Assemblies of God University the year he graduated in pastoral ministries. In 1995, after a year as youth pastors at Hillcrest Assembly in Seguin, the newlyweds headed for Springfield, Missouri, where Aaron edited curriculum for Gospel Publishing House and earned his English masters and Shannon earned a Christian education degree at Central Bible College. They started working in children’s ministry at Central Assembly in Springfield and continued doing so when they returned to Texas and made Calvary Temple their church home. Two handsome boys and six short years later, they were excited to become the Children’s and Family Pastors of Calvary.
